JP1 Version 11 JP1/Performance Management - Agent Option for Service Response Description, User's Guide and Reference

7.2.7 Properties window

The Properties window is used to display, add, and edit the information for one step in the Web transaction. To display this window, in the Web Recorder (main) window, from the Transaction menu, choose New, or from the Edit, choose Property.

The Properties window consists of tabs for six pages:

The following subsections describe the items displayed on each page. For details about the settings that are recorded automatically when new Web transaction information is created in the IE mode, and about the settings that must be specified when new Web transaction information is created or step information is inserted or added in the direct entry mode, see 4.4.1(2) Defining step information.

Note:

The message body is automatically recorded in the Web Recorder as it is, but the Web Recorder displays it in US-ASCII so that its display may be invalid.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Page Info page

The Page Info page is used to set information about a Web page, such as the URL to be accessed, the step ID, the page title, the frame name, and the character set.

In the IE mode, the items on this page are recorded automatically.

Figure 7‒12: Properties window (Page Info page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

URL:

Specifies the URL of the Web page that is to be accessed (as up to 2,083 bytes). Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted. This item is mandatory. If recording is performed in the IE mode, the target URL is set automatically.

To specify an IPv4 address, use dotted-decimal format (for example: 172.16.233.12/example.html). To specify an IPv6 address, use hexadecimal format enclosed in square brackets, using colons as separators (for example: http://[ACE6:45:75:91::1]/example.html).

Step ID:

Specify the string to uniquely identify steps. You are required to specify the step ID if you are in any one of the following cases:

  • The HTML file in this step includes the substitute string for the variable string after this step.

  • Outputs the HTML file acquired in this step.

Specifies the step ID using alphanumeric characters, hyphen, underscore, and space in the range 1 to 255 bytes. Note that any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Title:

Specifies the target Web page's title (as up to 1,023 bytes). Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted. This item can be omitted. If recording is performed in the IE mode, the target page's title is displayed automatically.

Frame name:

When the target URL is a frame, this item specifies the name of the frame (as up to 1,023 bytes). Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted. This item can be omitted. If recording is performed in the IE mode, the target frame name is displayed automatically.

Character set:

Specify the character set for the acquired HTML file. From the pull-down list, select Shift_JIS, EUC-JP, ISO-2022-JP, UTF-8, GB18030#, or None specified. None specified is selected by default. Note that when you select None specified, it means the character set specified in the Set Web Transaction Conditions window.

#

GB18030 supports only in Chinese OS and you cannot use the 4 bytes characters.

Note:

If you mistakenly select the character set, the Web transaction monitoring may fail when you set the response determination condition or condition of variable string.

Reference note:

Regardless of the Character set setting, the Web transaction file is output in Shift_JIS on Japanese OS, GB18030 on Chinese OS, or US-ASCII on the other OS.

(2) Request Info page

The Request Info page is used to set information about the request for step information. If recording is performed in the IE mode, all information except Cookie is recorded automatically.

Figure 7‒13: Properties window (Request Info page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

URL:

Displays the URL of the target Web page. To change this information, you must change the information in URL on the Page Info page.

Method:

Specifies the request method. The default is GET.

Content-type header:

Enables you to select one of the MIME formats listed below for the message body. This item is mandatory when POST is selected in Method.

  • Form URL encoded

  • Text

  • Multipart

  • Other

If you select Multipart, you must specify in Separator the delimiter that is to be used in the message body (as up to 255 bytes). If you select Other, you must specify in the field following Other a value for the Content-Type header that indicates the message body's MIME type (as up to 255 bytes).

Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Message body:

Specifies the text (as up to 512,000 bytes) that you wish to place in the message body when POST has been selected. If you selected Multipart, the character string specified in Separator under Content-type header is used to separate the parts. Even if you selected Form URL encoded, you enter the information here in text format; you do not have to enter it in the form URL encoded format. Do not omit specification of a value in Message body when you selected POST in Method. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Note:

You may include sensitive information in the message body, such as a password. Because this information is displayed as text on the screen, you must exercise caution in deciding what to include in the message body. The message body is also stored as text in the Web transaction file, so the Web transaction file must also be handled carefully.

Cookie:

Specifies a cookie header for the request. Normally, there is no need to set this item because PFM - Agent for Service Response uses the cookie acquired during monitoring as required. You should specify this information only when it is necessary.

The specification format is variable-name=value. To specify multiple sets (up to eight), use the semicolon (;) as the delimiter. The maximum length of a set is 1,023 bytes. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following an entered variable-name=value specification are deleted.

Character set of the request:

Specify the character set of the request information (such as URL, message body, and Cookie). Select from the drop-down list either of Shift_JIS, EUC-JP, ISO-2022-JP, UTF-8, GB18030#, or None specified. None specified is selected by default.

Note that when you select None specified, it means Shift_JIS on Japanese OS, GB18030 on Chinese OS, or US-ASCII on the other OS.

#

GB18030 supports only in Chinese OS and you cannot use the 4 bytes characters.

(3) Web Authentication page

The Web Authentication page is used to set information needed for Web authentication. You need to specify this page if Web authentication will be required when a request is sent. Because the settings on this page are not recorded automatically even in the IE mode, you must always directly enter the settings on this page when they are needed.

If multiple steps exist for accessing a Web server that requires Web authentication, each step requires a setting for Web authentication.

Figure 7‒14: Properties window (Web Authentication page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

Web authentication check box:

Specifies that Web authentication is to be performed. The default is that this check box is not selected.

Web authentication user name:

Specifies the user name that is to be used for Web authentication (as up to 64 bytes). When you have selected the Web authentication check box, you must specify this information. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Use password utility check box:

Specifies that the password utility is to be used. The default is that this check box is selected. If you do not use the password utility, you must specify Web authentication password.

Web authentication password:

If you do not select the Use password utility check box, specify the password that is to be used for Web authentication (as up to 64 bytes). Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Note:

The password specified in Web authentication password is stored as text in the Web transaction file, so Hitachi recommends that you use the password utility.

(4) Proxy page

The Proxy page displays as the default settings the proxy utilization information that was set in the Set Web Transaction Conditions window for the Web transaction. To change settings for the step, manually enter the applicable items. Because the settings on this page are not recorded automatically even in the IE mode, you must directly enter any necessary settings on this page.

Figure 7‒15: Properties window (Proxy page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

Proxy setting:

Enables you to select one of the three values listed below. The default is Use Web transaction's default proxy settings.

  • Use Web transaction's default proxy settings

Specifies that the values specified in the Set Web Transaction Conditions window are to be used as the proxy settings.

  • Do not use proxy

Specifies that no proxy is to be used.

  • Use this setting value

Specifies that the values specified on this page (the Proxy page) are to be used as the proxy settings.

Proxy host name:

Specifies the target proxy server's host name or IP address (as up to 255 bytes). When you have selected Use this setting value in Proxy setting, you must specify this information. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

If an HTTP Web page is to be accessed, you can use an IPv4 or IPv6 address to specify the host name.

To specify an IPv4 address, use dotted-decimal format (for example: 172.16.233.12). To specify an IPv6 address, use hexadecimal format, using colons as separators (for example: ACE6:45:75:91::1).

Proxy port number:

Specifies the port number of the target proxy server. When you have selected Use this setting value in Proxy setting, you must specify this information.

Proxy authentication check box:

Specifies that proxy authentication is to be performed. The default is that this check box is not selected.

Proxy authentication user name:

Specifies a user name that is to be used for proxy authentication (as up to 64 bytes). When you have selected the Proxy authentication check box, you must specify this information. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Use password utility check box:

Specifies that the password utility is to be used. The default is that this check box is selected. If you do not use the password utility, specify a password in Proxy password.

Proxy password:

If you have not selected the Use password utility check box, specify a password (as up to 64 bytes) that is to be used for proxy authentication. Any spaces, tabs, or linefeed characters preceding or following the entered character string are deleted.

Note:

The password specified in Proxy password is stored as text in the Web transaction file, so it is recommended that you use the password utility.

(5) Response Determination page

The Response Determination page is used to specify conditions for determining whether or not a response is valid during Web transaction monitoring. Because the settings on this page are not recorded automatically even in the IE mode, you must directly enter any necessary settings on this page. Note that this response determination is applicable only to HTML texts.

Figure 7‒16: Properties window (Response Determination page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

Condition:

Specifies a condition for response determination.

Conjunction:

Select from the drop-down list the logical connector for this condition. Select AND or OR.

String:

Specifies a character string to be set as the condition. This character string cannot contain curly brackets ({}).

Determine:

Select INCLUDED or NOT_INCLUDED to specify whether or not to include the character string specified in String.

List of response determination conditions:

Lists in tree format the response determination conditions that have been specified. The top line on the list is always Determination condition. To add a condition at the beginning of the list, select Determination condition and then click the Add button.

Add button:

Adds the condition specified in Condition to the List of response determination conditions. The condition is added at the end of the hierarchical level that includes the condition selected in List of response determination conditions.

Modify button:

Delete button:

Deletes the condition selected in List of response determination conditions.

Move buttons (Up, Down, Right, and Left buttons):

Enable you to modify the hierarchical structure of the conditions set in List of response determination conditions. You must select a condition in List of response determination conditions in order to use a move button.

  • Left button

Shifts the selected condition and all those below it to the left by one tab, raising their level in the hierarchy.

  • Right button

Shifts the selected condition and all those below it to the right by one tab, lowering their level in the hierarchy.

  • Up button

Moves the selected condition and all those below it up in the hierarchy, so that they precede the immediately higher set of conditions at the same hierarchical level.

  • Down button

Moves the selected condition and all those below it down in the hierarchy, so that they follow the immediately lower set of conditions at the same hierarchical level.

(6) Variable String page

The Variable String page is used to list the settings of the variable strings, which enable PFM - Agent for Service Response to support the dynamic session management.

Figure 7‒17: Properties window (Variable String page)

[Figure]

The following describes the displayed items.

List of variable string settings:

The settings of the variable strings are listed. A combination of Variable string at the time of the record and Source of variable string is counted as one setting of a variable string and displayed in one line.

Note that when this page is displayed, none is selected.

Add button:

Add a new variable setting. When you click this button, the Conditions of Variable String window appears.

Edit button:

Edit the variable string setting selected in the List of variable string settings. When you click this button, the Conditions of Variable String window appears. If none is selected in the List of variable string settings, displays an error message.
