6.1.6 Example of manual maintenance of system configuration information

This subsection provides examples of manual maintenance of system configuration information, including examples of managing newly added computers and examples of deleting duplicate computers.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Examples of managing newly added computers

You can search for computers that were added within a particular time period by using the date on which the hosts were registered in the manager as the search key. By searching for newly added computers on a regular basis, you can ensure that no hosts are overlooked in terms of job execution, registration into host groups, and other management tasks.

The following figure shows an example of managing new computers added within a specific time period:

The figures below show an example of managing newly added computers every 14 days (biweekly on a specific day of the week). To manage newly added computers at a specific interval, enter search conditions as shown in this example.

(2) Examples of deleting duplicate computers

In a system that uses host IDs, the same computer might appear more than once in the system configuration if new host IDs are generated in the following situations:

If the same computer appears more than once in the system configuration with different host IDs, jobs might not be executed on the correct computer.

You can avoid this issue by searching for duplicate hosts in the system configuration information and deleting the hosts with the older update times.

The figure below shows an example of searching for computers that have different host IDs but the same MAC address, IP address, and host name, and deleting the duplicates from the system configuration.
