4.10.1 Notes on the time setting of a monitoring target machine

(1) Notes on the time setting

Stop all Performance Management services before changing the time setting. After changing the time setting, restart the Performance Management services.

If the Performance Management programs have different time settings, the display range of performance data in historical reports might not be correct. Performance data is collected and stored by PFM - Agent and PFM - RM. You need to specify the display range for a historical report based on the time kept by PFM - Agent and PFM - RM. Likewise, if the time zones differ between the programs, you must also take into account the differences in the time zones when you specify the display range for a historical report.

Event history is displayed in the Event History window in the order of the times when the events were issued. These are the times set at the computers that issued the events. Therefore, if you change a computer's time setting to a past time, a current event will be inserted and displayed in the history log for past events. If you change a computer's time setting to a future time, a current event will be inserted and displayed in a history log for future events.
(2) Notes on changing the current time to a future time

When you change the current time to the future time, the system does not store the history information between the time before the change and the time after the change.

When you change the current time to a future time, performance data might be deleted because of its retention period. Therefore, before you change the current time to a future time, use the jpctool db backup or the jpctool db dump command to back up the data.
(3) Notes on changing the current time to a past time
When you change the current time to a past time, the system stores data collection and history information based on the changed time. If there is any data or history information that was collected on a date and time that is the same as before the change, you must clear the Store database by performing the procedure described below after you have changed the time setting.
To clear the Store database:

Stop the programs and services of Performance Management.
If any programs and services of Performance Management are running, stop all of them. Use the jpcspm stop command to stop services.

Change the computer's current time to a past time.

Start the programs and services of Performance Management.
Start the programs and services of Performance Management. Use the jpcspm start command to start services.

Execute the jpctool db clear command to delete the PI, PD, and PL records of the target Agent from the Store database.
