In Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista, the data collection tool can acquire a user dump file if one has been output by the user.

The data collection tool cannot acquire memory dumps and crash dumps in Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista. You must collect this information manually when a problem occurs. For details about how to do so, see 10.5.2 Collecting dump files (in Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista).
