12.3.2 Defining the applications to be monitored

This subsection describes how to define the applications that are to be monitored.

Defining the applications that are to be monitored consists of the following two main steps:

Step 1

Define a business scope.

Step 2

Define the AJS3 unit monitored objects.

Define FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing as the business scope for grouping the applications of the Fukuoka branch. Define jobnets Daily_Order_Processing, Weekly_Order_Processing, and Monthly_Order_Processing as AJS3 unit monitored objects.

In addition, for both Osaka and Sendai branches, define monitored applications in the same manner as you defined for the Fukuoka branch.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Defining a business scope

To define business scope FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing:

  1. Drag a business scope icon from the icon list, and then drop it in the map area.

    The system displays the Define Details - [Business Scope] dialog box.

  2. Define the object name.

    See the following for the items to be entered in the Define Details - [Business Scope] dialog box.

    Name

    Enter the name of the business scope. In this example, type FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing. This name is used for the monitored object on the Main Scope window.

  3. Click the OK button.

    The Define Details - [Business Scope] dialog box is closed.

    Business scope FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing is defined in the map area.

(2) Defining an AJS3 unit monitored object

To define Daily_Order_Processing, Weekly_Order_Processing, and Monthly_Order_Processing as AJS3 unit monitored objects:

  1. In the tree area, click business scope FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing, which will manage the AJS3 unit monitored objects to be defined.

    Business scope FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing is now highlighted.

  2. From the icon list, drag the AJS3 unit monitored object, and then drop it in the map area.

    When drop the AJS3 unit monitored object [Figure] into the map area, the Define Details - [AJS3 Unit Monitored Objects] appears.

    The following figure shows how to manipulate an AJS3 unit monitored object.

  3. Define the information required for the AJS3 unit monitored object.

    See the following for the items to be entered in the Define Details - [AJS3 Unit Monitored Objects] dialog box.

    Name

    Enter the name of the AJS3 unit monitored object. In this example, enter Day_Surveillance.

    Host name

    Enter the name of the manager host (JP1/AJS3 Manager host) to be monitored. Enter host2 in this example.

    AJS3 unit name

    Enter the name of the root jobnet of the host to be monitored using the fully qualified unit name. Enter AJSROOT1:/FukuokaBranch OrderProcessing in this example.

  4. Click the OK button.

  5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 for Weekly_Order_Processing and Monthly_Order_Processing.

Supplementary note

You can create AJS3 unit monitored objects automatically.

To create an AJS3 unit monitored object:

  1. Select a root jobnet to be monitored in the JP1/AJS3 - View window, and then select Options, and then Save As Monitored Object.

  2. Choose Edit, and then Auto-create Monitored Objects in the Main Scope window.
