10.2 Finding and displaying units

Use the Search window to find specific units.

You can open the Search window from the following windows:

In the Search window, you can find a specific unit by specifying your own search conditions or by using a combination of search conditions predefined in JP1/AJS3 - View. You can also save and delete sets of search conditions.

(1) Specifying search conditions

To find a jobnet or job:

  1. Open one of the following windows:
    • JP1/AJS3 - View window (Main window)
    • JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window)
    • Jobnet Editor window
    • Jobnet Monitor window
  2. In the window you opened in step 1, click the jobnet or job group that manages the unit you want to find.
    Click the job group or jobnet in the summary list or unit detailed information list of the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window), or in the tree area if you opened one of the other windows.
    The job group or jobnet you clicked is now selected.
  3. Choose Edit and then Search.
    The following Search window appears. If you selected more than one unit, or if you did not make a selection, the Search window will not open.

    The full path name of the job group or jobnet you selected in step 2 appears in Location to search.
    Cautionary notes
    • The path name displayed in Location to search is that of the unit that was selected in the tree area of the window from which you opened the Search window, regardless of what unit you might have selected in the list area of the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Main window) or in the map area of the Jobnet Editor window.
      You can change the path name displayed in Location to search by clicking the ... button, which opens the Location to Search dialog box.
    • If you opened the Search window having selected a unit other than a root jobnet in the JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window), the full path name of the upper-level root jobnet appears in Location to search. To change the location to search, click the ... button, which opens the Location to Search dialog box.
  4. In the search condition setting area, specify the name, type, and other details about the unit you want to find.
  5. Click the Search button.
    Units matching the search conditions are listed in the search result list area.
    If you want to cancel the search before it ends, click the Cancel button.
  6. Check the units listed in the search result list area.
    Using the Operations menu, you can perform operations for the listed units as required.

(2) Using predefined search conditions

JP1/AJS3 - View provides predefined sets of search conditions for finding the following type of unit:

By selecting this option, you can enter a predefined set of search conditions in the Search window to look for a particular unit.

To find a particular unit using predefined search conditions:

  1. Open one of the following windows:
    • JP1/AJS3 - View window (Main window)
    • JP1/AJS3 - View window (Summary Monitor window)
    • Jobnet Editor window
    • Jobnet Monitor window
  2. In the window you opened in step 1, click a unit according to the type of unit you want to find:
    To find a unit with wait conditions:
    Click a unit whose end is being waited for.
    The unit you clicked is now selected.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose Simple Search and then choose a command from the displayed submenu.
    The Search window opens.
    The search conditions are set automatically, according to the submenu command you chose.
    The following describes the values that are set automatically as the search conditions, based on the submenu command.
    • When the submenu command is Unit with Wait Conditions
      Search conditions are set automatically for the unit with wait conditions associated with the unit whose end is being waited for that you selected in step 2.
      The predefined search conditions differ according to the window you opened in step 1.
      The table below describes the predefined search conditions. Defaults appear for all search items not shown in this table.

  4. Change the search conditions as required.
  5. Click the Search button.
    Units matching the search conditions are listed in the search result list area.
    If you want to cancel the search before it ends, click the Cancel button.
  6. Check the units listed in the search result list area.
    Using the Operations menu, you can perform operations for the listed units as required.

(3) Saving search conditions

You can save a maximum of 32 sets of specified search conditions. To apply saved search conditions, simply select the name they were saved under from the Search Condition drop-down list.

To save search conditions:

  1. Specify the search conditions in the search condition setting area.
  2. Click the Save button.
    The Save Search Condition dialog box appears.
  3. Type a name for the set of search conditions you are saving.
  4. Click OK.
    The Save Search Condition dialog box closes.
    The search conditions are saved under the name you entered in step 3. If search conditions have been saved previously under the same name, the saved conditions will be overwritten.

Saved search conditions can be uploaded and downloaded from a user common profile, allowing JP1 users to share the settings. For details about user common profiles, see 11.1.2 Using user common profiles.

(4) Deleting saved search conditions

To delete saved search conditions:

  1. From the Search Condition drop-down list, select the name of the search conditions you want to delete.
    The name you selected appears in the Search Condition drop-down list.
    The saved conditions appear in the Search window.
  2. Click the Delete button.
    The search conditions you selected in step 1 are deleted.
