1.2 Notes on using JP1/AJS3 - View

This section describes notes on using JP1/AJS3 - View and JP1/AJS3 Console View.

Display colors

Specify the number of display colors to a value greater than 256. With 256 or fewer display colors, the windows or dialog boxes may not be correctly displayed.

System resources (memory) in the startup sequence

If a system resource (memory) becomes insufficient in the startup sequence, an application error may occur or operations in windows may be disabled. Set sufficient margin for the upper limits to the system resources (memory) on JP1/AJS3 - View and JP1/AJS3 Console View. For details about how to set the upper limit on JP1/AJS3 - View, see 11.2.5 Setting the amount of memory used. For details about how to set the upper limit on JP1/AJS3 Console View, see 14.2.5 Specifying memory usage.

When starting multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View

When starting multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View, start an instance of JP1/AJS3 - View after the JP1/AJS3 - View window of the previous instance of JP1/AJS3 - View is displayed. If an attempt is made to start JP1/AJS3 - View before the JP1/AJS3 - View window of the previous instance is completely displayed, the environment settings may become invalid. This is the same for JP1/AJS3 Console View. When starting multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 Console View, start an instance of JP1/AJS3 Console View after the Main Scope window of the previous instance of JP1/AJS3 Console View is displayed.

Running multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View concurrently

When you run multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View concurrently on a single host, changing the environment settings of one instance might overwrite the environment settings of the others. Make sure that only one instance of JP1/AJS3 - View is running when you change its environment settings. Similarly, when you change the environment settings of JP1/AJS3 Console View, make sure that only one instance of JP1/AJS3 Console View is running on that host.

Using JP1/AJS3 - View for a long time

When you use JP1/AJS3 - View over a long period of time, restart JP1/AJS3 - View periodically. This prevents a memory leak that causes JP1/AJS3 - View to be inoperable. We recommend that you restart JP1/AJS3 - View within the range of every two days to once a week, depending on the amount of work.

Notes on setting an item of a dialog box

When the OK button is clicked in a dialog box for defining details of a JP1/AJS3 - View unit or specifying a schedule, the communication with JP1/AJS3 - Manager starts to register the information specified in the dialog box.

In addition, when the OK button is clicked in a JP1/AJS3 Console View dialog box, which is usable in the definition mode, such as the Define Details dialog box, the communication with JP1/AJS3 Console Manager starts.

If you only checked the information in a dialog box without changing it, we recommend that you click the Cancel button to close the dialog box to prevent unnecessary communication.

Copying or moving a unit between multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View

A unit cannot be copied among multiple instances of JP1/AJS3 - View. A unit cannot be cut and pasted into another instance of JP1/AJS3 - View.

Likewise, a JP1/AJS3 Console View object cannot be cut and pasted into another instance of JP1/AJS3 Console View.

Notes on incorrect window display

When pages are switched around in a dialog box or when the scroll bar is used to scroll through the window, the window display may be garbled. If this occurs, slowly repeat the same operation to recover the normal window display.

In addition to the error above, JP1/AJS3 Console View may sometimes distort display windows at a time of mode transition. To correct the distorted window, let the system redraw the window by resizing it or doing another method.

Window operation while a dialog box is displayed

While a dialog box of a certain type is displayed, other windows cannot be used.

Access key of a menu command

The menu commands have no access key.

Scroll arrow button for drop-down lists

In the Login screen and some dialog boxes, a menu scroll button is sometimes displayed even if no item can be selected from the drop-down lists.

Display and display driver

Some types of displays and display drives may be unable to represent proper colors. This problem does not affect the system operation.

Problem on minimized windows

A minimized window cannot be correctly displayed at its maximum. To maximize a minimized window, first restore the original window size, and then maximize it.

Dotted-line box focus

On some dialog box buttons and message box buttons, the dotted-line box, which represents your focus, may not be displayed. It does not affect the system operation.

Multiple dialog boxes or message boxes displayed at the same time

On a low-speed host, multiple dialog boxes or message boxes might appear if you successively click menu items or other items in a window while the host is busy or JP1/AJS3 - View is communicating with JP1/AJS3 - Manager. In such a case, click the Cancel button on each dialog box to close them all, then redo the same operations. When multiple message boxes appear at the same time, respond to the messages one by one.

Animation functionality enabled

If the animation functionality is enabled, scrolling through a list box might cause something to be incorrectly displayed. The procedure below describes how to disable the animation functionality.

In Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista:
  1. Press the Windows key and the U key at the same time.
The Ease of Access Center window opens.
  2. Click Make the computer easier to see.
  3. Under Make things on the screen easier to see, clear the Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible) check box.

In Windows XP Professional:
  1. On the Appearance page in the Display Properties dialog box, click the Effects button.
    The Effects dialog box opens.
  2. Clear the Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips check box.
