1.5.2 Process of recurring execution

If you specify recurring execution as the execution timing for a service, the JP1/AO system generates the first task as soon as you submit the service. JP1/AO executes the first task when the scheduled start time arrives, at which point a second task is generated. The process of executing and generating tasks continues on an ongoing basis according to the schedule (time and frequency) specified for the service.

Generated tasks remain in Waiting status until they begin executing.

Note that processing might be delayed if the preceding task has not finished when the next execution start time arrives. The following figure shows an example of a service scheduled for recurring execution at 9:00 every Monday.

Figure 1‒9: Example of recurring execution

[Figure]

  1. Service submitted by user (at 12:00 on Wednesday)

A user submits a service with recurring specified as the execution timing, and an execution schedule of 9:00 every Monday. At this point, JP1/AO generates the first task.

  2. First recurring execution (at 9:00 on Monday of week 1)

JP1/AO executes the first task at the scheduled start time, and generates the second task.

  3. Second recurring execution (at 9:00 on Monday of week 2)

JP1/AO executes the second task as scheduled (as determined from the time and frequency), and generates the third task.

  4. Third recurring execution (at 9:00 on Monday of week 3)

If the second task has not finished by the next scheduled start time, JP1/AO executes the third task when the second task finishes. At this time, the fourth task is also generated.

  5. Fourth recurring execution (at 9:00 on Monday of week 4)

JP1/AO executes the fourth task at the first occurrence of the scheduled start time (as determined from the time and frequency) after the fourth task is generated. At this time, the fifth task is also generated.

The process of executing and generating tasks continues in this manner.

You cannot change the schedule after you submit a service. To change the schedule of a service, stop any generated tasks and then re-submit the service with the new schedule.
