The sample project (Bank) provided by Developer is a program that transfers the funds of a user having the User ID entered in the Web browser from a current account (Checking Account) to a savings account (Savings Account). If you enter the user ID and the transaction amount on the displayed window, and then click the Transfer button, the specified amount will be transferred from the current account of the specified user to the savings account. The funds will be managed in the database, and the current account table and savings account table will be updated when the funds are transferred.

The following figure shows the configuration of this sample project (Bank):

In this sample project (Bank), an annotation is used to connect to the database.

The processing will be executed for the specified user ID and amount of money. The following table describes the initial balance that can be specified in 'Bank' for each user ID and the user.

With the EJB of the sample project, the database is also accessed by acquiring the resource adapter with the @Resource annotation. The specification contents of the @Resource annotation are as follows:

With a servlet (Web container), the EJB will also be accessed by acquiring the EJB with the @EJB annotation. The specification contents of the @EJB annotation are as follows:

Note that the reference name BankEJB specified in the @EJB annotation is defined as follows in the coding of BankEJB:

In Appendix A, the procedure for using the sample project (Bank) is described with the following environment as a prerequisite:

• Environment in which Eclipse is set up
  In Appendix A, an environment in which Eclipse is set up correctly is a prerequisite. For details on the Eclipse setup, see 2.4 Set up using the Eclipse setup functionality.
  
• Environment set up with the Development Environment Instant Setup functionality
  In Appendix A, an environment set up with the Development Environment Instant Setup functionality is a prerequisite. Therefore, logical servers that satisfy the following conditions are used:
  
  • Application Server is installed locally.
  • The environment is set up properly.
  • Before starting the J2EE server, the logical server related to the J2EE server is already running.
• Setting up JRE
  Use the following JDK:
  
  • JDK of Developer (Developer-installation-directory\jdk)
    You can set up the JDK from the Preferences dialog box of Eclipse, by clicking the Installed JRE page. For details on how to check the JDK, see 2.5(1) Checking JDK.
    
• Connection destination of Management Server Remote Management
  Specify the following host:
  
  • localhost
    Set up the connection destination of Management Server Remote Management using Eclipse (WTP connector). For details on how to set up using WTP (WTP connector), see 4.2 Setting up Remote Management.
    
• Perspectives to be used
  Use the following perspectives. However, as a prerequisite, the perspective settings must not be changed from the default settings.
  
  • When performing debug: Debug perspective
  • In cases other than debug: JavaEE perspective
• Setting up a proxy
  If you are using a proxy for an internet connection, set up the Eclipse proxy. You can set up the Eclipse proxy from the Preferences dialog box, by clicking the Network Connection page. For details on how to set up a proxy, see 2.6.1 Proxy settings of Eclipse.
  
• Resource adapter
  With the sample project (Bank), the resource adapter in which Development Environment Instant Setup is deployed is used. Note that this resource adapter is deployed as the J2EE resource adapter.
