Appendix F. Differences with JP1/Software Distribution for Windows

The following describes the differences in functionality between the Windows version and UNIX version of JP1/Software Distribution. The tables indicate the supported operations performed from individual managing servers to the clients.

Legend:
S: Supported.
N: Not supported.

#1
For the Windows version, this is distribution of JP1/Software Distribution Client (client).

#2
Installed during system startup, normal installation

#3
Installed during system startup, normal installation, or installed during system shutdown

#4
Information on the distribution destinations that are registered in the group ID for the UNIX version of JP1/Software Distribution is managed by the relay system. Therefore, distribution destination systems that are directly connected to the managing server cannot be registered in a group ID.

#5
Split distribution is possible only when the client is an end workstation.

#6
Remote startup via a relay system, by client control, can be used regardless of whether the relay system is a UNIX or a Windows based system.

#7
Only remote booting is available when the client version is 08-10 or later. When relay systems are used, remote booting is available regardless of whether the OS of the relay systems is UNIX or Windows.
