Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Client Description and User's Guide
You can acquire the backup of the temporary package storehouse to recover the temporary package storehouse using this backup. We recommend that you acquire the backup of the temporary package storehouse periodically in case of errors in the storehouse. Acquiring the backup of the temporary package storehouse is also effective if an error occurs between the managing server and a relay system and the packages cannot be distributed from the managing server.
Figure 7-1 shows an example of acquiring the backup of the temporary package storehouse.
Figure 7-1 Example of acquiring the backup of the temporary package storehouse
- Register the software at the managing server.
- In the relay system, acquire a backup of the temporary package storehouse using the rdsstrbkup command.
- Send the acquired backup to each relay system.
- In the event an error occurs between the managing server and a relay system, use the rdsstrrcv command to restore the backup package to the temporary package storehouse.
- From JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system), distribute the package to the intended distribution-destination systems.
- Organization of this subsection
- (1) Acquiring the backup
- (2) Restoring the temporary package storehouse
- (3) Note
To acquire the backup of the temporary package storehouse, execute the rdsstrbkup command. When the rdsstrbkup command is executed, all the management files and resource files in the temporary package storehouse are backed up in a batch. You can output the backup into a medium, such as a CMT, or a regular file. Therefore, you can register and distribute the backup file.
(2) Restoring the temporary package storehouse
To restore the temporary package storehouse, use the backup that is acquired using the rdsstrbkup command of the client services, and execute the rdsstrrcv command of the client services. The following two methods are available:
- Initialize the temporary package storehouse and then restore the storehouse.
- Restore only the specific packages.
For the syntax of the rdsstrbkup and rdsstrrcv commands, see 9. Command Operations for Client Services and Generator Tools.
(3) Note
Note the following when acquiring the backup of the temporary package storehouse or restoring the temporary package storehouse:
- Stop the distributor tools of JP1/Software Distribution Client before you acquire the backup or restore the temporary package storehouse.
- You cannot access the temporary package storehouse while the backup is being acquired or the temporary package storehouse is being restored.
- If there is any job that is not executed, the temporary package storehouse cannot be restored. Before you restore the temporary package storehouse, check that all the jobs are executed. If there is any job that is being executed, complete the job or delete the job and then restore the temporary package storehouse.
