Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Client Description and User's Guide
Create a host file on a relay system or end workstation that meets either condition (1) or (2) below. Do not create a host file on a client workstation.
- Organization of this subsection
- (1) When JP1/Software Distribution (UNIX or Windows NT version) is the managing server
- (2) When packaging software with attributes different from the settings file
(1) When JP1/Software Distribution (UNIX or Windows NT version) is the managing server
A host file is needed when using the following managing servers:
- UNIX version of JP1/Software Distribution (01-02 or earlier)
- Windows NT version of JP1/Software Distribution (01-00)
Set the host name defined at the managing server as the file name of the host file. Some connection target systems can be run without creating a host file.
(2) When packaging software with attributes different from the settings file
When you package software, distribute packages, or register the collection file, you can create a host file to change RetryCount, DeliveryRetryCount, and other attribute values. Specify a host file in an option of the command for packaging software, distributing packages, or registering the collection file. The command uses the attribute values specified in the host file for processing.
