4.5.2 Reporting the distribution results (distributor tools)

The managing server receives reports from the distribution-destination systems, and can manage the execution statuses of package distribution and file collection execution, and resource status at the distribution-destination systems. The managing server stores information about the status of the packages at the distribution-destination in the package status file.

When JP1/Software Distribution Client is used as the managing server and packages are registered and distributed within the same LAN, you can automatically report the installation results to a higher-level managing server (JP1/Software Distribution Manager). As a result, the higher-level system managing server can batch-manage the installation of the packages executed inside the lower-level LAN. The reported information is managed in the package status file of JP1/Software Distribution Manager. To use this feature, set the upper-level distribution management host (HighEndManagementHost) at the settings file for the distributor tools. For details on setting procedures, see 6.4.5 Syntax of the settings file for the distributor tools in PART 2.

Figure 4-7 shows the overview of reports to the upper-level managing server.
