3.2 Registering attributes of collection files

Files to be collected are called collected resource. Before collecting files, enter the file attributes (collection information) such as the package ID of the collected resource, the file format at the time of collection, and trigger of the file collection, in the collection-information file. The created collection-information file is registered in the file for collected files' attributes for the managing server, using the rdsatrup command for the client services. The collection-information file can be registered from any JP1/Software Distribution programs.

For details on how to create the collection-information file, see 3.2.1 Creating the collection-information file.

To collect multiple directories and files as a single file, create a collection path file. When the file name of the collection path file is specified in the collection-information file, the directories and files that are contained in the collection path file are collected as a single file. For details on how to create the collection path file, see 3.2.2 Creating the collection path file.

To collect a Windows client file from a UNIX managing server, you can use a collection script file that contains the collection procedure. When using a collection script file, specify the name of the collection script file during registration of the collection-information file, or when executing collection from the managing server. For details on how to create the collection script file, see the manual for the Windows version of JP1/Software Distribution.
