Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Client Description and User's Guide
When using JP1/Software Distribution Client, note the following:
- Cautions when using on HP-UX
- When using JP1/Software Distribution Client under HP-UX, avoid using large user IDs and large files.
- Using with Software Distribution/Workstation or JP1/Software Distribution/Workstation
- You cannot use JP1/Software Distribution Client if you also install a program (Software Distribution Workstation or JP1/Software Distribution Workstation) of an older-version relay system or distribution-destination system on the same machine.
- There is no need to delete JP1/Software Distribution Workstation when upgrading to JP1/Software Distribution Client. Note, however, that the installation log will remain in the system. Additionally, when setting up a function unique to JP1/Software Distribution Client, reset its details following setup.
- Free space required for startup
- At least 5 megabytes of hard disk space is required to start JP1/Software Distribution Client.
- Distribution destination specification methods
- When specifying the distribution destination of the relay system, do not mix the distribution-destination name with the IP address specification. You can only specify one distribution-destination using either a distribution-destination name or IP address.
- Changing system time
You can change the system time when starting or stopping the system. Note that changing the system time may cause the following problems.
If a job is created after the system time is rolled back, a registered job may be overwritten. Wait for the time of the roll back to pass before creating a job.
- A job with the date and time specified is executed at an unexpected time.
- When the system time is rolled back, a job with the date and time specified is executed twice.
- It becomes difficult to analyze the causes of failure because the log output times will deviate.
- Upgrading from a Version 8 or older product
- Before upgrading from a Version 8 or older product to JP1/Software Distribution Client, first delete the software information in the managing server.
