1.3.2 Files used by JP1/Software Distribution Client

This section describes the files that must be created or modified for using JP1/Software Distribution Client. For other information see the following:

(1) Files used by the client services

Table 1-3 lists the files used by the client services of JP1/Software Distribution Client.

Files used at packaging Packaging-information file Stores the information for the software to be packaged by using a command.

Set-by-GUI packaging-information file Stores the software packaging information set by using the graphical user interface.

User resource path file Specifies the directory from which to package a user resource from the hard disk.

Special file definition file Specifies the device special files to be used for packaging.

Files used at remote collection Collection-information file Defines information about a file to be collected.

Collection path file Created when collecting a group of directories or files.

Directories for storing packages Temporary package storehouse An area on a relay system for temporarily storing packages distributed from the managing server.

Temporary job storehouse An area on a relay system for temporarily storing jobs executed from the managing server and addressed to an ID group.

Temporary collection storehouse An area on a relay system used to temporarily store resource files collected from lower-level systems if a line error occurs between the managing server and the relay system.

Files for reporting information to an upper-level system User resource status file Used to report user information, such as the status of packages installed locally (without using JP1/Software Distribution Manager), to the managing server.

File for uploading system information Used to report information about hardware and software automatically to the distribution-destination systems.

Files for managing client-start status Client-start suppressing file Disables client startup when the relay system receives a distribution job.

File for reporting client-start error Used to report an error to the managing server if the relay system fails to start a client when attempting to install a package.

Settings file Defines the operating environment for the client services.

File for setting the environment Sets an operating environment in detail for a relay system or distribution-destination system.

Host file^#1 Defines the environment for distribution management.

ID group definition file^#2 Stores ID group information for organizing distribution-destination systems as groups.

Distribution situation file Used for displaying the package distribution status at a relay system.

Directory for system configuration Directory of files used for automatically registering the system configuration. This is a system directory and cannot be modified.

Network interface definition file Defines the network interfaces used by JP1/Software Distribution in order of priority.

Log files Log file Contains the processing log for the client services.

File for file system error information Stores error information.
