10.7.8 Viewing log information (Log)

You can view information and error logs when you import information into the Asset Information Manager Subset database, such as the start and termination of tasks registered in Windows Task Scheduler and the number of information items imported into the Asset Information Manager Subset database. Even in an environment in which Asset Information Manager Subset cannot be used directly, you can check the status of information acquisition from linked products and error information.

The default is that only the administrator can browse the log.

To browse the log, click on the Log job menu to display the Log window. The following figure shows the Log window.

Clicking a folder link displays the links for the lower-level file names. Clicking a file name link displays the contents of the log file (message output time, message type, and message text). Clicking the INV link displays the log file (ASTINVn.log). From the contents of ASTINVn.log, you can obtain such information as the number of inventory information items imported into the Asset Information Manager Subset database and error messages issued by Asset Information Synchronous Service that acquires inventory information in real time.

How to interpret the file name
In ASTINVn.log, n indicates a serial number for the file name in the range from 1 to 9.
When the maximum amount of log information permitted per file is exceeded, a new log file with the number incremented by 1 is created. When number 9 is used, it is reset to 1. You can identify the most recent log file by the file attribute (date and time).

The Log window displays the folders and files that are stored in the \log virtual directory of Asset Information Manager Subset. If you attempt to move to the higher Asset Information Manager Subset's virtual directory, a message is displayed indicating that the window cannot be displayed because there is no permission. The default virtual directory of Asset Information Manager Subset is JP1/Software-Distribution-installation-folder\jp1asset\wwwroot.
