10.7.6 Adding and changing types and status (Code)

Information that is managed by defined type, such as the device status, is managed by code values in the Asset Information Manager Subset database.

By editing the codes and attributes (code display values), you can add and edit the search conditions specified with each job menu item and the output result by editing

For example, you can add a new device type to Device type in the Device Details dialog box, and change the setting so that unneeded CPU types are not displayed in Processor.

For details about the code values managed by the Asset Information Manager Subset database, see the manual Job Management Partner 1/Asset Information Manager Planning and Setup Guide.

The default is that only the administrator can execute Code.

To edit codes, start from the Code window, which is displayed by clicking the Code job menu item. The following figure shows the Code window.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Adding codes
(2) Changing a code's display value
(3) Deleting code information
(4) Code's meaning depending on its specification range
(5) Code information that cannot be added or deleted

(1) Adding codes

To add a code:

  1. In the Managed class list, click the link of the class to which a code is to be added.
The code ID of the selected class is displayed. Note that some code information cannot be added. For details about the code information that cannot be added, see (5) Code information that cannot be added or deleted.
  2. Click the link of the Code ID to which a code is to be added.
The code and the corresponding display value are displayed.
  3. Click the Add button.
The Add Code dialog box appears.
Code value and Display value must be specified. You cannot add a code or display value that has already been registered.
Note that the meaning of a code may depend on the numerical range in which it is specified. The code ranges that can be specified have specific code IDs. For details about the code specification ranges, see (4) Code's meaning depending on its specification range.
To cancel, click the Close button.
  4. Click the OK button.
The code is added based on the specified information, and the Add Code dialog box closes.
The following figure shows the Add Code dialog box in which a code to be registered is specified.

Note
To add codes in CPUType and OSType for added items, make sure that each specified code matches a CPU type in the system information.
To add a unique code to CPUType, specify a value in the range from 00000 to 99999.

(2) Changing a code's display value

To edit a code's display value:

  1. From the list of Managed class, click the link of the class whose code is to be edited.
The code IDs of the selected class are displayed.
  2. Click the Code ID link of the code to be edited.
The codes and corresponding display values are displayed.
  3. In the Code value list, click the link of the code to be edited.
The Edit Code dialog box appears.
To cancel, click the Close button.
  4. Edit Display value, and then click the Update button.
The code information is updated based on the specified information, and the Edit Code dialog box closes.
Specification of Display value is mandatory.

(3) Deleting code information

To delete code information:

  1. From the list of Managed class, click the link of the class whose code is to be deleted.
The code IDs of the selected class are displayed.
  2. Click the Code ID link of the code to be deleted.
The codes and corresponding display values are displayed.
  3. In the Code value list, click the link of the code to be deleted.
  4. Click the Delete button.
The selected code information is deleted.
Note that a code whose check box is disabled cannot be deleted. For the code information that cannot be deleted, see (5) Code information that cannot be added or deleted.

(4) Code's meaning depending on its specification range

Depending on the range of the code specification, the range of codes that limit each code ID may be different from the code ID used by the asset management system. When adding or changing codes, you must note the appropriate specification range.

The following table shows the code IDs for which the range of addable codes is limited.

Table 10-4 Code IDs depending on their specification range

Managed class (managed class name) Code ID (display name) Range for addition
HardwareInfo (hardware information) ModelKind (composition) 970-998

The following table shows the meanings of the codes depending on their specification range.

#1
This is subject to the same search and summation processing as for the default statuses Active and Stock.

#2
If maintenance of the Asset Information Manager Subset database is executed by the Data maintenance task registered in Windows Task Scheduler, the associated network information (IP addresses only), installed software information, patch information, virus definition information, and component information are deleted.

#3
When inventory information is imported from JP1/Software Distribution, if the code of the assigned asset information is in the range from 500 to 699, the information is not updated.

#4
If maintenance of the Asset Information Manager Subset database is executed by the Data maintenance task registered in Windows Task Scheduler, the information is deleted.
