Job Management Partner 1/Software Distribution Administrator's Guide Volume 1
You use this job to group IP addresses and manage them as IP groups. You can create groups by department and location, and assign desired names to them to manage the IP address usage condition. IP group management is applicable only to the IP addresses of IPv4.
The default is that only the administrator can execute IP Group.
To change IP group information, use the IP Group window, which is displayed by clicking the IP Group job menu item. The following figure shows the IP Group window.

By clicking an IP group name link in a search results list, you can view and change the detailed information about that IP group.
To manage IP addresses by group, use the Group-Specific IP Group page to create IP groups; to manage IP addresses by location, use the Location-Specific IP Group page to create IP groups. To manage a group by subgroups or manage multiple groups as a single group, use the IP Group page to create IP groups.
By creating an IP group using the Group-Specific IP Group and Location-Specific IP Group pages, you can automatically register the group and location that correspond to each device's IP address when you import inventory information and execute the Data maintenance task. Even if you have not acquired group and location information as user inventory information, you can still register a group and a location from the IP address.
To automatically register a group that correspond to the IP address, you must specify settings in the Server Setup dialog box. For details about how to specify settings in the Server Setup dialog box, see 10.2.3(6) Settings for a group that uses a group-specific IP group and 10.2.3(7) Settings for a location that uses a location-specific IP group in the manual Setup Guide. To automatically register a group that corresponds to the IP address during execution of the Data maintenance task, you must edit the setup file (taskopt.ini). For details about how to change the setup file, see 10.7.2 Specifying the work to be performed by the Data maintenance task in the manual Setup Guide.
