To start operation monitoring, specify the target client for which operation is to be monitored and execute a Set the software monitoring policy job. When creating this job, on the Operation Monitoring Policy page of the Create Job dialog box, choose Start/change the monitoring of operating software and the operation monitoring policy to be applied to the client. When the job is executed at the client, the selected operation monitoring policy is applied and operation monitoring begins.

If the Edit Software Operation Monitoring Policy dialog box is displayed from Remote Installation Manager on another computer, the Set the software monitoring policy job cannot be executed. In such a case, close the Edit Software Operation Monitoring Policy dialog box, and then re-execute the job.

To check the name of the operation monitoring policy being applied to a client (applied software operation monitoring policy), you can use the Attributes page in the System Configuration, Destination or Directory Information window of Remote Installation Manager. On the Attributes page, you can also check the last date/time at which an operation monitoring result was collected from the client (the final update date/time of software operation information) and the version of the operation monitoring policy being used (the applied software operation monitoring policy version).

Only one operation monitoring policy can be applied to a client. To change the operation monitoring policy being applied to a client, take the following step: When creating a Set the software monitoring policy job, on the Operation Monitoring Policy page of the Create Job dialog box, choose Start/change the monitoring of operating software and the new operation monitoring policy to be applied to the client.
