You should note the following about executing a remote collection job or using Unarchiver:
- In order for the OS to execute a remote collection job on a Windows client whose version of JP1/Software Distribution is 09-00 or earlier, you must express the path name as a maximum of 63 characters. If 64 or more characters are specified, only the first 63 characters are used (no error results).
- Remote collection may fail in the following cases:
- A file to be collected remotely is being used by the client.
- Remote collection is from a Windows NT client's network drive.
- Remote collection is from a directory to which there is no access privilege.
- The Acquire collected files from relay system and Delete collected files from relay system jobs use the relay manager/system as the destination. If a client is specified as the destination in such a job, either an error results or execution is placed on permanent running status (with execution status 20%).
- A directory or file displayed in the Create Job or Unarchiver window may be deleted by another application during processing. When such a deletion occurs, the deletion is not reflected on the screen display. Selecting a deleted file or directory displays the following error message: File access error occurred.
- In Directory for saving collected files, you may specify a directory at the Server. You should exercise care in doing this, especially when the Server and Remote Installation Manager are installed on separate machines.
- If the drive specified for Directory for saving collected files does not exist, a directory with the client's host name is created under \temp in the JP1/Software Distribution installation directory for storing the collected files.
- Remote collection from both a PC (Windows system) and a WS (UNIX system) cannot be executed in the same job.
- You should note the following about executing remote collection from a WS (UNIX system):
- Specify the collection target from the root directory; there is no need to specify a drive.
- Only one file or directory can be specified as the collection target. If multiple files are specified, only the first file specified is collected.
- You can use up to 63 characters to specify the path name. If you use more than 63 characters, only the first 63 characters are used as the path name (no error results).
- You can use up to 64 characters to specify the path of an external program to be started. If you use more than 64 characters, only the first 64 characters are used as the path name (no error results).
- You cannot include any spaces in the path of an external program that is to be started.
- You cannot specify an argument for an external program that is to be started.
- For Directory for saving collected files on the Collect File page, you must specify a directory on a local drive. You cannot save the remotely collected files on a network drive.
- The Target file on the Collect File page and the Software Distribution Unarchiver window do not comply with the UNC path. When you use a file or directory on the network, assign it to the network drive beforehand.
- The total file capacity that can be collected remotely at one time is two gigabytes.
