4.1.1 Starting Inventory Viewer

You can start Inventory Viewer in two ways:

(2) Starting Inventory Viewer from the Start menu

(1) Starting Inventory Viewer from Remote Installation Manager

From the File menu of Remote Installation Manager, choose Start Inventory Viewer.

To start Inventory Viewer from Remote Installation Manager, you do not need to log into Inventory Viewer. You also do not need to log into Inventory Viewer when JP1/Software Distribution users are managed in linkage with JP1/Base.

(2) Starting Inventory Viewer from the Start menu

To start Inventory Viewer from the Windows Start menu:

  1. From the Start menu, choose Software Distribution Manager, and then Inventory Viewer.
    The Software Distribution Manager Logon dialog box appears.

    Software Distribution server name
    Specify the host name for the managing server.
    User ID and Password
    Specify the user ID and password for the user permitted to access the JP1/Software Distribution database.
    When JP1/Software Distribution users are managed in linkage with JP1/Base, enter the user name and password of a JP1 user who has permission to operate Inventory Viewer.
  2. Specify necessary information, and click Connect.
    The Software Distribution Manager Inventory Viewer window appears.
