2.5.16 Silent installation of Windows Installer-compatible software

When using Windows Installer to remotely install another company's program, you can use silent installation, which does not display the installer window.

Use an AIT file for silent installation of software that is supported by Windows Installer. JP1/Software Distribution includes a sample template for creating an AIT file for Windows Installer-compatible software. Modify and use the sample template as needed.

For you to use this function, Packager and the client machines must have Windows Installer 2.0 or later installed. Windows Installer 2.0 is installed as a standard component in Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 3 and later). For any other OS, obtain Windows Installer 2.0 from Microsoft Corporation's web page and install it. Note that JP1/Software Distribution provides an AIT file for distributing the Windows Installer 2.0 module. Using this AIT file, you can easily distribute the Windows Installer 2.0 module to clients.

For details on the remote installation of the Windows Installer package, see the manual Automatic Installation Tool Description and Reference.
