2.4.1 Creating a cabinet

You can create a maximum of 1,296 cabinets. To use Remote Installation Manager to create a cabinet:

  1. In the Package window, from the File menu, choose Create Cabinet.
    The Create Cabinet dialog box appears. You must specify all items.

    Cabinet name (required)
    Specify a unique name for the cabinet, as 1-32 characters. The following characters cannot be used: \ / * " : ; space.
    Cabinet ID (required)
    Specify a unique ID for the cabinet, as 2 characters (alphabetic characters must be uppercase).
    Cabinet type (required)
    Select PC if the creator of the package is a Windows client or WS if it is a UNIX client.
  2. After specifying the items, choose Exit.
    The settings are saved and the Create Cabinet dialog box closes.
    Choose Add to create another cabinet.

You can also create cabinets when packaging software from Packager. If you mistakenly assign the same name to two cabinets with different IDs while using Packager to package software, invalid packages may be displayed in cabinets. In such a case, from the File menu, select Rename to rename one of the cabinets.
