9.6.6 Changing a default value when inventory information is registered

This section describes the procedure for setting assigned items using an example of changing the default value for Status from Permit to Do not permit in the installed software list.

If the Status setting is changed to Do not permit and JP1/Software Distribution's inventory information contains a software name that has not been registered in Asset Information Manager, email notification will be sent to the asset manager.

To set assigned items:

  1. In the Assign Inventory window, click the Browse button for Installed software list.Permission.
The Assign Inventory - Assigned Item List dialog box appears.
  2. From the items displayed in Assigned items, select Code.
  3. From the drop-down list, select Do not permit.
  4. Click the OK button.
The Assign Inventory - Assigned Item List dialog box closes, and Do not permit is specified in the Assigned items field.
  5. Click the Update button.
    The assignment settings take effect.

To send email notification of unauthorized software installation, you must enable the Notification of unauthorized install task. For details about the tasks, see 5.9 Setting the tasks that are registered in Task Scheduler.

You can change the registered status in the Installed Software window. For details about how to change the setting for whether to permit installation, see 4.7.2 Changing the installed software information in the manual Administrator's Guide.
