The asset management server uses the following services:
- IIS Admin Services
- World Wide Web Publishing Service or World Wide Web Publishing
- Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP)
This service is required if it is necessary to notify the asset manager by email about the execution results of the tasks registered in Windows Task Scheduler, or to notify the next worker by email when an Item has been sent.
- Asset Information Synchronous Service
This service is required if it is necessary to link to JP1/Software Distribution and collect inventory information updates on a real-time basis. This service is created when the Link with JP1/SD component is selected during the installation of Asset Information Manager.
If there is no need to collect inventory information updates on a real-time basis, enable the Take inventory task registered in Windows Task Scheduler. For details about how to set up tasks, see 5.9.2 Task setup procedure.
The services to be used by the asset management server must be set to start automatically. Because Asset Information Manager is not set to automatically start after being installed, set it to start automatically.
To set Asset Information Manager to start automatically:
- In the Service window, choose Asset Information Synchronous Service.
- From the menu, choose Action and then Property.
The Property dialog box opens.
- On the General tab, change Startup type to Automatic.
- Click the OK button.
The Property dialog box closes, and Asset Information Synchronous Service is set to start automatically.
- Start Asset Information Synchronous Service.
Also check the properties of other services that are used by the asset management server. If they are not set to start automatically, follow the same procedure to set them to start automatically.
