5.2.3 Uninstalling Asset Information Manager

This subsection describes how to uninstall Asset Information Manager. Before you start this procedure, stop all Asset Information Manager services, commands, and tasks.

To stop Asset Information Manager services, stop the following services in the order indicated below:

  1. World Wide Web Publishing Service or World Wide Web Publishing
  2. Asset Information Synchronous Service, Asset Information Manager commands, and tasks
  3. JP1/Client Security Control - Manager (when JP1/CSC is linked)

Notes
  • Uninstallation does not necessarily delete the installation folders and files or the Microsoft Internet Information Services virtual directory, and these may remain on the computer. When reinstalling, delete any remaining folders.
  • If the asset management database is Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle, uninstalling Asset Information Manager does not delete the tables inside the asset management database. To delete these tables, use the DBMS function.
If the asset management database is Embedded RDB, uninstalling Asset Information Manager also deletes the tables inside the asset management database. If you need to use these tables after uninstallation, back up these tables before uninstallation.
For details about how to acquire a database backup, see 12.1.3(1) Backing up the asset management database from the Database Manager dialog box.

To uninstall Asset Information Manager:

  1. On Windows Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs, point to Asset Information Manager, and then click the Delete radio button.
A dialog box appears confirming the deletion.
  2. Click the Yes button.
Asset Information Manager is uninstalled. Note that files and folders that were created after Asset Information Manager was installed are not deleted.
When uninstallation is completed, a dialog box to that effect appears.
