2.4.2 Specifications related to character set conversion

This subsection describes specifications regarding how the mail filter application converts email containing Kanji or other multibyte characters so that the JP1/AJS3 mail system linkage function can use the email.

If you want the mail system linkage function to handle email that contains Kanji or other multibyte characters, it is necessary to convert its character set. Otherwise, the character set used in the email does not match that for the language with which JP1/AJS3 is running, thus failing to satisfy the condition for the email reception monitoring job. The language with which JP1/AJS3 is running uses the following character set by default:

When the OS is Solaris: EUC

When the OS is other than Solaris: Shift-JIS

Create a mail filter application that converts email to the above character set.

JP1/AJS3 provides a sample shell script that converts a character set. To create a mail filter application, you can use and modify this sample. For details on the sample shell script, see 2.4.4 Sample shell script for a mail filter application.
