Select GUI installation mode or Background installation mode.
If the package type is Hitachi program products or Other companies' software, the GUI installation mode is assumed.
- GUI installation mode
- This mode uses a special installer (such as an interactive installer). If the installer does not have GUI but uses a graphic device interface API, select this mode.
- If the client is Windows NT, remote installation does not take place unless the user who installed the client is logged on. In such a case, installation is still possible if the client uses the facility for installation with non-Administrator user permissions. For details about the facility for installation with non-Administrator user permissions, see 11.2.3 Installing software using non-Administrator user permissions under Windows NT.
- When using the GUI installation mode to remotely install software that requires interactive responses, release the password lock at the installation-destination PC beforehand. If the installation-destination PC is password locked (a dialog box asking for a key input of Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens), interactive responses cannot be provided, and thus installation cannot be executed. When remotely installing a Hitachi program product that is compatible with remote installation, no interactive responses are required, and thus the program product can be installed even if the PC is locked.
- Background installation mode
- This installation mode does not use any special installer. Select this mode when installation involves only copying of files. Even if the user who installed the client is not logged on, remote installation is executed in this mode, as long as Windows NT is running.
If the package type is Hitachi program products, specify whether it is a new installation or a version upgrade. If you select Reinstallation, the installation target drive and directory cannot be changed.
- New installation
- Select this option to install a new program product.
- Reinstallation
- Select this option to upgrade a program product that is already installed.
