To use a managing server function, from the Start menu, select the JP1/Software Distribution program folder, and then select the menu for the desired function. These menus are created when a JP1/Software Distribution Manager server or a relay system component of JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system) is installed with the Remote Installation Manager subcomponent selected.
The following explains the menus for the various managing server functions.
- Remote Installation Manager
This menu starts Remote Installation Manager, which is used to execute the managing server's principal facilities, such as software distribution, inventory information management, and file collection.
For details about how to operate Remote Installation Manager, see 1.3 Starting and terminating Remote Installation Manager and 1.4 Window configuration and basic operations.
- Database Manager (applicable to JP1/Software Distribution Manager only)
This menu starts Database Manager, which is used to create and maintain a relational database. This menu is created when the Database Manager subcomponent of the Server is installed.
For details about how to operate Database Manager, see 7.4 How to use Database Manager (for Embedded RDB) or 7.5 How to use Database Manager (for Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle) in the manual Setup Guide.
- Unarchiver
This menu starts Unarchiver, which is used to restore compressed files and archived files. A file collected from a remote client is stored in archived or compressed format in the managing server. To use the file in the managing server, you must execute the Unarchiver to restore it.
For details about how to operate Unarchiver, see 5.1.2 Restoring collected files.
- CSV output utility
This menu starts the CSV output utility, which enables you to output to a CSV-formatted file inventory and other information that the managing server uses. You can open a CSV-formatted file with a spreadsheet program, making it possible to easily sort the information it contains or create management forms.
For details about how to use the CSV output utility, see 9.1 Using the CSV output utility to output information to a file.
- Setup
These menus modify the operating environment of JP1/Software Distribution Manager or JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system). Normally, setting up the operating environment is performed during installation. You can also use these icons to start the setup procedure to make changes. The new operating environment takes effect the next time you start the PC.
For details about how to set up JP1/Software Distribution Manager, see 4. Setting Up JP1/Software Distribution Manager in the manual Setup Guide. For details about how to set up JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system), see 5. Setting Up JP1/Software Distribution Client (relay system) in the manual Setup Guide.
- Inventory Viewer (applicable to JP1/Software Distribution Manager only)
This menu opens the window that displays client inventory information that has been acquired and provides it in graph format. You can also use this window to count the clients for each inventory item. For details about Inventory Viewer, see 4. Managing Inventory Information.
- Asset Information Manager (JP1/Software Distribution Manager only)
This menu sets or changes the Asset Information Manager Subset operating environment when the Asset Information Manager Subset component is used. The set or changed operating environment takes effect the next time you start the PC.
For details about how to set up Asset Information Manager Subset, see 10.1 Setting up Asset Information Manager Subset in the manual Setup Guide.
Note that this menu is created when the Asset Information Manager Subset component is installed.
