2.10 Login authentication via linkage with Active Directory

Active Directory services can be used for authentication when logging in to Asset Information Manager. This allows login passwords to be consolidated in Active Directory, and means that you do not have to manage passwords separately for each system you are using.

Only passwords can be consolidated when Active Directory is used for login authentication.
Asset Information Manager user information must be used to manage user group information.

The following figure shows the workflow for user authentication via linkage with Active Directory.

  1. Obtain configuration information and attribute names from the Active Directory server.
    The information required to configure linkage with Active Directory must be obtained in advance. For details about how to obtain this information, see 3.5.1 Login authentication in the Planning and Setup Guide.
  2. Configure the settings to link with Active Directory.
    In order to link to Active Directory, you must configure the settings under Link with Directory Server in the Server Setup dialog box. For details about the settings required to link with Active Directory, see 5.3.6 Setting Link with Directory Server in the Planning and Setup Guide.
