7.10.5 Changing the environment settings for HA Monitor and servers

This subsection explains how to change the environment settings.

HA Monitor environment settings (sysdef):

Terminate HA Monitor before you change the HA Monitor environment settings. Make sure that HA Monitor has terminated normally. If you change the HA Monitor environment settings on a host that was reset during hot standby processing and then restart HA Monitor, HA Monitor might not function correctly. When you have finished editing the definition file, start the HA Monitor and the servers.

Server environment settings (servers and servers_opt):

Terminate the server before you change the server environment definition. If you change the server environment definition for a grouped server, or if you add servers to or delete servers from a server group, you must terminate all the servers in the group. You can keep HA Monitor running. When you have finished editing the definition file, start the server (or servers).

Monitor-mode program environment settings (programs)

To change the monitor-mode program environment definition, terminate the server specified in the ALIAS operand in the monitor-mode program environment definition. HA Monitor can keep running. After you have finished editing the definition file, start the server specified in the server_alias operand in the monitor-mode program environment definition.

You can also change the settings for HA Monitor, servers, and programs that use the monitor-mode program management function while they are running. For details about the methods, see 7.10.6 Changing the settings and operations while HA Monitor and servers are running.
