For Linux(R) (x86) Systems HA Monitor Cluster Software

2.2.1 Hot standby operation in the event of a server failure

In the event of a server failure, the HA Monitor in the active system resulting in the failure removes shared resources from the active system to prepare for hot standby. When hot standby preparations, such as prohibiting access to the shared disk and LAN disconnection, are completed, HA Monitor sends a notification to that effect to the standby system. The standby system then starts hot standby processing.

The following figure provides an overview of hot standby by HA Monitor in the event of a server failure.
