2.2 Operation from failure detection to hot standby

HA Monitor detects two principal types of failures, server failures and host failures. The processing and flow of hot standby operations depend on the type of failure.

In the event of a server failure, HA Monitor removes the erroneous server as a shared resource and switches over to the server in the standby system. In the event of a host failure, HA Monitor disconnects shared resources from the failed host using a method such as host reset, and then switches over to a standby system server. This section provides an overview of the processing flow from failure detection to hot standby. For details about the processing flow, see 4.8 Processing flows.
