2.1.4 Multi-standby configuration

In this configuration, multiple secondary systems are provided for a single primary system so that multiple standby servers are assigned to a server that executes a particular type of job processing. If a failure occurs on the secondary system before the primary system has been recovered, the secondary system can be switched over to another secondary system because there are multiple standby servers. This configuration improves system availability because multiple systems are available to handle system failures.

The following figure shows an example of a multi-standby configuration.

You must use the multi-standby function to employ this configuration. For details about the multi-standby function, see 4.5 Managing servers and hosts when using the multi-standby function.
