8.1 Overview of definition files
This section explains the files that the user defines as environment definitions. The following are the environment definition files that must be defined:
-
sysdef file
Specifies environment settings required to run HA Monitor. For details, see 8.3.1 HA Monitor environment settings (sysdef).
-
servers file
Specifies environment settings required to run servers. If you use resource servers, you also use this file to specify environment settings for them. For details, see 8.4.1 Server environment definition (servers).
-
servers_opt file
Specifies environment settings required to run locked servers. This file is optional. We recommend that you use this file if you do not want more than one active server to run on a single host. If you use locked servers, you must use both the servers and the servers_opt files to specify environment settings. For details, see 8.4.2 Locked server environment settings (servers_opt).
-
programs file
Specifies the definitions required to run programs that use the monitor-mode program management function. For details, see 8.5.1 Monitor-mode program environment definition (programs).
The following notes apply to specifying definition files on hosts:
-
You must specify the definition files on all hosts that contain HA Monitor.
-
Some operands in the definition files must be specified identically in the primary and secondary systems and some must be different.
-
After you have finished creating the definition files, make sure that you distribute them to all hosts and then execute the definition check command (moncheck command).
