29.3 Configuring HiRDB
The following is the procedure for configuring HiRDB to use HiRDB expansion units.
- Procedure
- Configure HiRDB (all base units), excluding HiRDB expansion units.
For details, see 29.3.1 Configuring a base unit.
- To configure a HiRDB expansion unit, use the pdstart command to start the HiRDB configured in step 1. If you choose not to configure a HiRDB expansion unit at this point, proceed to step 5.
- Configure a HiRDB expansion unit.
For details, see 29.3.2 Configuring a HiRDB expansion unit.
- Use the pdstop command to terminate HiRDB, except for the HiRDB expansion unit started in step 2.
- This completes configuration of a HiRDB system.
- Note
- The maximum combined total number of base units and HiRDB expansion units that can be configured is 64.
- Because the environment for a HiRDB expansion unit can be set up before actual startup, there is no need to configure a HiRDB expansion unit together with a base unit during initial system configuration. Note however, that HiRDB expansion units must be defined beforehand in the system common definition.
