26.9.5 Actions the HiRDB administrator takes when an error occurs

Organization of this subsection
(1) System processing and actions the HiRDB administrator takes when an error occurs
(2) When the standby-less system switchover (effects distributed) facility is used

(1) System processing and actions the HiRDB administrator takes when an error occurs

The following table describes the system processing and the actions the HiRDB administrator takes when an error occurs.

Table 26-77 System processing and the actions the HiRDB administrator takes when an error occurs (when using the system switchover facility)

Error System processing Action the HiRDB administrator takes
A server failure occurred (only HiRDB terminated abnormally). As specified in the switchtype operand# of HA Monitor or Hitachi HA Toolkit Extension. Check the cause of the error based on the message that was output. For details about the appropriate action to take, see Chapter 20. Error Handling Procedures.
A system failure occurred. Performs a system switchover and restarts HiRDB on the switchover destination system. However, depending on the type of system failure, a system switchover might not be performed. A cluster software specification determines whether a system switchover will be performed. For details, see the cluster software documentation. Check the cause of the error based on the message that was output. For details about the appropriate action to take, see Chapter 20. Error Handling Procedures or the applicable manual.
HiRDB restart failed. As specified in the switchtype operand# of HA Monitor or Hitachi HA Toolkit Extension.
System switchover failed. Terminates the system.

Note
The information inherited after a system switchover is the same as the information that is inherited when HiRDB is restarted. For details about the information that is inherited during a HiRDB restart, see 20.1.5 Information inherited during a HiRDB restart.

Processing depends on the specification of the switchtype operand. For details about HA Monitor's switchtype operand, see 26.5.3 HA Monitor preparations. For details about Hitachi HA Toolkit Extension's switchtype operand, see 26.5.5 Hitachi HA Toolkit Extension preparations.

(2) When the standby-less system switchover (effects distributed) facility is used

After resolving the error, use a planned system switchover to switch the system back to the regular unit (return to normal status from standby status). For details about planned system switchovers, see 26.9.2 Planned system switchover.
