19.1.2 Registering optimizing information

You can use either of the following methods to register optimizing information in a dictionary table:

Regardless of which of these methods you choose, use the optimizing information collection utility (pdgetcst command) to register the optimizing information in a dictionary table. For details about the parameter files that contain optimized information, see 19.3.1 About parameter files that contain optimized information.

Organization of this subsection
(1) Collecting optimizing information from a database
(2) Using a parameter file that contains optimized information to register optimizing information

(1) Collecting optimizing information from a database

You can use the pdgetcst command to automatically collect optimizing information and simultaneously register it in a dictionary table. For details about the specific procedure, see 19.2 Using optimizing information. The following figure shows the collection of optimizing information from a database.

(2) Using a parameter file that contains optimized information to register optimizing information

Create a parameter file that contains optimized information that describes optimizing information, and use the pdgetcst command to register the file in a dictionary table. For details about the specific procedure, see 19.3 Using a parameter file that contains optimized information. The following figure shows the process of registering optimizing information using a parameter file that contains optimized information.
