6.4.2 Example 2 (Using the HiRDB Control Manager wizard to back up individual RDAREAs)

This example uses the backup wizard provided by HiRDB Control Manager to select a desired table and back it up. In the backup wizard, when you select a table to be backed up, the RDAREAs associated with that table (the RDAREAs that also need to be backed up at the same time) are listed so that they can also be backed up.

Procedure
  1. Start HiRDB Control Manager - Console.
For details about how to start HiRDB Control Manager - Console, see F.1 Starting HiRDB Control Manager - Console.
  2. Register the HiRDB server that is to be subject to the processing.
Skip this step if the HiRDB server has already been registered. For details about the registration method, see F.2 Registering Management HiRDB.
  3. From the tab menu, select Backup and then Wizard to display the Backup Wizard - Search Target window.
For the acquisition target, select Table/Index.
  4. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Display Tables/Indexes window.
From the Table/Index list, select the table to be backed up.
  5. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Add Related RDAREAs window.
The Related RDAREAs list displays the RDAREAs that need to be restored when the table is restored, such as the RDAREAs that store indexes defined for the table. To back up these RDAREAs at the same time, select them from the Related RDAREAs list, and then click Add. The selected RDAREAs are added to the Backup target RDAREAs list.
  6. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Specify Backup Target Location window.
This example specifies the following information:
    • Type of backup file
    • Name of the storage host
    • Backup file name
To specify a name for the backup file, click Backup Target Location.
  7. If the backup file storage location has not been registered, a pop-up window is displayed.
This window is not displayed when the backup file storage location has been registered.
  8. Click Yes to display the Register Backup File Storage Location window.
Specify in the Storage directory name field the directory in which the backup file is to be stored.
This window is not displayed when the backup file storage location has been registered.
  9. Click Register to display the Specify Backup File Storage Location window.
Enter in the Backup file name field a name for the backup file.
  10. Click Add.
The added backup file name is displayed in the Backup target location list.
  11. Click OK to display the Backup Wizard - Specify Backup Target Location window.
  12. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Confirm window.
Check the specified conditions. If there is an error, click Back to correct the corresponding settings.
    • If you will be repeating this backup processing, click Catalog to catalog the procedure so that you can skip this wizard entry the next time you back up an RDAREA. You can schedule cataloged backups at specified dates and times. For details, see HiRDB Control Manager Help.
  13. Click Run to start the backup.
