6.4.1 Example 1 (Using the HiRDB Control Manager wizard to back up a system)

This example uses the backup wizard provided by HiRDB Control Manager to back up a system.

Procedure
  1. Start HiRDB Control Manager - Console.
    For details about how to start HiRDB Control Manager - Console, see F.1 Starting HiRDB Control Manager - Console.
  2. Register the HiRDB server that is to be subject to the processing.
    Skip this step if the HiRDB server has already been registered. For details about the registration method, see F.2 Registering Management HiRDB.
  3. From the tab menu, select Backup and then Wizard to display the Backup Wizard - Search Target window.
    For the acquisition target, select HiRDB system.
  4. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Display HiRDB Systems window.
    Select in the HiRDB system column the name of the HiRDB system that is to be backed up.
  5. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Specify the System Log Operation Method window.
    There is no need to change the system log operation method because the system sets the correct value automatically.
  6. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Specify Backup Target Location window.
    This example specifies the following information:
    • Type of backup file
    • Name of the storage host
    • Backup file name
      To specify a name for the backup file, click Backup Target Location.
  7. If the backup file storage location has not been registered, a pop-up window is displayed.
    This window is not displayed when the backup file storage location has been registered.
  8. Click Yes to display the Register Backup File Storage Location window.
    Specify in the Storage directory name field the directory in which the backup file is to be stored.
    This window is not displayed when the backup file storage location has been registered.
  9. Click Register to display the Specify Backup File Storage Location window.
    Enter in the Backup file name field a name for the backup file.
  10. Click Add.
    The added backup file name is displayed in the Backup target location list.
  11. Click OK to display the Backup Wizard - Specify Backup Target Location window.
  12. Click Next to display the Backup Wizard - Confirm window.
    Check the specified conditions. If there is an error, click Back to correct the corresponding setting.
    • If you will be repeating this backup processing, click Catalog to catalog the processing so that you can skip this wizard entry the next time you back up the system. You can schedule cataloged backups at specified dates and times. For details, see HiRDB Control Manager Help.
  13. Click Run to start the backup.
