3.3 Password protection when connecting to the SAP system
In JP1/AJS3 for EAP, the password for connecting to the SAP system must be included in either of the following:
-
sapnwrfc.ini file: The SAP NetWeaver RFC Library configuration file
-
r3defcon file: The file used to configure the default common arguments for commands.
-
Command line argument (-p option, or -p2 option)
-
Custom job definition window: R/3 System page of the R/3 Job Definition dialog box.
In version 13 and later versions of JP1/AJS3 for EAP, specifying a password on the custom job definition window (item 4 above) in the operating environment with the eapctrlconf file without specifying either configuration file (items 1 and 2 above), or specifying a password in the command option (item 3), will save an obfuscated password in JP1/AJS job definitions.
As such, to provide password protection when connecting to the SAP system in version 13 and later versions of the JP1/AJS3 for EAP, place the eapctrlconf file and specify a password on the custom job definition window (item 4) without specifying a password in configuration files 1 or 2, or in the command option (item 3).
Further, if a password was specified on the custom job definition window in a version of JP1/AJS3 for EAP before version 13, install version 13 or a later version of JP1/AJS3 for EAP, reload the custom job definition window on the environment where the eapctrlconf file is located and save the password again to save an obfuscated password in JP1/AJS job definitions.
