1.3.6 Cloning a Virtual Machine (for Windows)

On the following virtualization platforms, you can clone a virtual machine from a virtual machine template in an integrated agent host deployment where you installed JP1/IM - Agent in imaging mode.

Organization of this subsection

(1) Prerequisites

The following are the prerequisites for replicating agent:

(2) How to Create a Virtual Machine Template

The following describes how to create a VM template.

  1. Install JP1/IM - Agent on the virtual machine.

Select [Image creation mode] as the installation mode during installation.

For details about how to install the software, see 1.3.1(3) Procedure of JP1/IM - Agent installation.

    Important

JP1/IM - Agent is not initialized.

(3) How to Clone a Virtual Machine

The following shows how to clone a virtual machine.

  1. Clone a new virtual machine from a virtual machine template.

See virtualization software documentation for details about the replication features provided by virtualization platforms.

Check OS specications for the tasks required by OS for duplication.

  2. Start a new virtual machine.

  3. Change the host name of the new virtual machine.

If necessary, change the host name of the virtual machine.

  4. Change IP of the new virtual machine.

Change IP addressing of the virtual machine as needed.

For the procedure to be performed when IP address is changed, see 2.3.1(3) Tasks to be performed when IP address for agent is changed in the JP1/Integrated Management 3 - Manager Administration Guide.

  5. Perform JP1/IM - Agent initialization.

Run initial setting command of JP1/IM - Agent.

  6. Refresh the tree of IM managed nodes on JP1/IM - Manager to which JP1/IM - Agent is connected.

For details, see 1.21.2(19) Creation and import of IM management node tree data (for Windows) (required).
