3.12.3 Change the hostname of the Smart Device Manager

In the case that you change the hostname of the Smart Device Manager, change it by the following steps.

Procedure

  1. Stop the following services on the machine you installed the Communication Server by performing a stop operation on the Windows Services dialog.

    • JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager Web Server

    • JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager (Communication Server Service)

  2. Stop the following services on the machine you installed the Smart Device Manager by performing a stop operation on the Windows Services dialog.

    • JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager Server Service

    • JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager (DB Service)

  3. Open the pdsys file by a text editor.

    The pdsys file exists in the following folder:

    Installation-directory of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Smart Device Manager\mgr\db\conf

  4. Change the hostname in the following description of pdsys file:

    pdunit - x hostname -u unt1 -d installation-directory of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Smart Device Manager\mgr\db\conf

    When you modify, add "\" character to the end of the description and it must be within 80 bytes. See example below.

    pdunit -x hostname -u unt1\
    -d "installation-directory of JP1 /IT Desktop Management 2 - Smart Device Manager\mgr\db\conf"
  5. Open HiRDB.ini file by a text editor.

    The HiRDB.ini file exists in the following folder:

    Installation-directory of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Smart Device Manager\mgr\db\conf\emb

  6. Change the follwing hostname description in the HiRDB.ini file.

    • PDHOST=hostname

  7. If you specified the hostname in the httpsd.conf file, change the hostname in the file.

    Modifing procedure for the httpsd.conf file, see the note in 3.12.2 Procedure for setting up server certificates for SSL communication on the smart device manager.

  8. Change the hostname of the operating system.

  9. Restart the operating system.

Important

You need to change the database address (IP address of access point) by using sdmnetchange command to IP address of Smart Device Manager if you specified the hostname (domain name) when you installed JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Smart Device Manger (Communication Server). In this case, change the database address (IP address of access point) by the following steps:

  1. Stop the following service on a machine you installed the Communication Server by performing a stop operation on the Windows Services dialog.

    JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager (Communication Server Service)

  2. Launch the Terminal on the machine you installed the Communication Server, and change the current directory to the directory where the commands installed.

  3. Perform sdmnetchange command on the machine.

    Example: sdmnetchange -target Comsvr -db database-address

  4. Start the following service on a machine you installed the Communication Server by performing a stop operation on the Windows Services dialog.

    JP1/ITDM2 - Smart Device Manager (Communication Server Service)

Important

When you change the hostname of the Smart Device Manager, reissue a SSL server certificate and deploy it on the Smart Device Manager.
