JP1 Version 12 JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Asset Console Configuration and Administration Guide

16.13 Viewing log information (Log)

By using the Log job menu, you can view error information, and various logs of information about JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager imported to the asset management database. This information might include, for example, the start and end of tasks registered in Windows Task Scheduler, or the number of information items imported to the asset management database. Even in an environment where direct manipulation of the asset management server is impossible, you can still check the status of information acquired from JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Manager, and check error details.

By default, only the administrator can browse the log.

To browse the log, click the Log job menu to display the Log window. The following figure shows the Log window.

[Figure]

Clicking the INV folder link displays the link to the log file (ASTINVn.log). Clicking the log file name link displays the contents of the log file (message output time, message type, and message text).

How to interpret the file name
  • n in ASTINVn.log indicates a file name sequence number, in the range from 1 to 9.

  • When the maximum amount of log data permitted per file is exceeded, a new log file with the number incremented by 1 is created. If number 9 is used, it is reset to 1. You can identify the most recent log file by the file attributes (date and time).

The Log window displays the folders and files that are stored in asset-management-server's-virtual-directory\log. If you attempt to move to the asset management server's higher-level virtual directory, a message stating that the request window cannot be accessed due to lack of permissions is displayed. By default, the asset management server's virtual directory is Asset-Console-installation-folder/wwwroot.
