JP1 Version 12 JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Asset Console Configuration and Administration Guide

13.1.1 Logging in

To use Asset Console, use a Web browser to access the login window and log in to Asset Console.

Notes
  • To ensure a secure environment, the first time you log in, make sure that you change the asset manager's default password (user ID: admin). We also recommend that you change the password periodically.

  • Even when Active Directory is used for authentication, the user IDs used for logging in must be managed as Asset Console user information. Only passwords can be consolidated when Active Directory is used for login authentication. To log in under a user ID that is not registered in Active Directory, that user ID must be authenticated as user information (user ID and password) managed in Asset Console. For example, user IDs and passwords that are registered only in Asset Console are managed in the asset management database, which is the case for the asset manager (user ID: admin).

To log in to Asset Console:

  1. Open a Web browser and access the login window.

To access the login window, enter its URL into a Web browser. The URL of the login window is http://host-name/jp1asset/login.htm#.

When Asset Console is installed, a shortcut icon is created to the login window on the asset management server desktop. You can also use this shortcut icon to access the login window.

The following figure shows Asset Console's login window.

If you configure SSL on the Web site where the Asset Console's virtual directory is set in Microsoft Internet Information Services, the URL of the login window is https://host-name/jp1asset/login.htm.

  2. Enter your user ID and password to log in to Asset Console

Immediately after installation, only the asset manager (whose user ID and password are both admin) can use Asset Console. When you are logging in for the first time or when no Asset Console user has been registered, log in as the asset manager. Then use the Group and User job menu to register the users who will use Asset Console.

For details about registering users, see 16.1.2 Adding a user.

  3. Click the Login button.

If Asset Console authentication is successful, the following initial window is displayed.

    • When Windows(R) Internet Explorer(R) 10 or later was used without setting the website in Compatibility View Settings.
