JP1 Version 12 JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 - Asset Console Configuration and Administration Guide

1.1 Overview of Asset Console

This section provides an overview of Asset Console.

Asset Console is one of the components of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2. Asset Console centrally manages information about components such as hardware (including network devices), software, and contracts. This facilitates streamlining and cost reduction of IT asset management jobs, such as deploying assets, managing software licenses, and maintaining hardware.

JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 provides two asset management methods:

For details about the differences between the above two methods, see Appendix A. Differences Between the Asset Management Functions in Asset Console and in JP1/IT Desktop Management 2 Windows.

This manual describes only the asset management method that uses Asset Console.

Note that only one of these methods can be used. Using both methods will create inconsistencies in the asset information. During system setup of JP1/IT Desktop Management 2, you must specify whether to use Asset Console for asset management.

However, Asset Console cannot be used for asset management when you operate a large-scale environment using the large-scale management server. If the asset management method needs to be switched, the system must be set up again.
