3.5 Changing the PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications system configuration
You must change the system configuration for PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications whenever a change occurs in the system, such as a change in a monitored system's network configuration or a change in host names. This subsection describes how to change the system configuration for PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications.
-
If you change a host name in the SAP system
Change the following item in the setup procedure for updating the instance environment:
-
ASHOST
If you change any item that was entered during the instance environment setup procedure in the SAP system, use the setup procedure for updating the instance environment to update the information that was changed.
-
-
If you change the system configuration for PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications
You must also change the settings for PFM - Manager and PFM - Web Console. For details about how to change the system configuration for Performance Management, see the chapter that describes installation and setup in the JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide.
-
If you change the time zone set for the SAP system (except when this change is necessitated by the switch between standard time and daylight saving time)
To extract system log information from the SAP system in which daylight saving time had been applied to the time zone before the change of the time zone setting, you have to edit the SAPTIMEZONEOFFSET setting during the switch between standard time and daylight saving time.
- Tip
-
As daylight saving time is switched to standard time, a two-hour overlap period arises, which corresponds to the last one hour of daylight saving time plus the first one hour of standard time. With the SAP system, it is recommended that the system be shut down during this period. For example, when daylight saving time is switched to standard time, a one-hour period from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. may be repeated twice. In this case, you have to disable the system during the period from 1:55 a.m. to 3:05 a.m. For details about how to operate the SAP system during the switch from daylight saving time to standard time, see SAP Notes 7417 and 102088.
You can edit the SAPTIMEZONEOFFSET setting in an environment where daylight saving time is adopted as follows:
- Switching from standard time to daylight saving time
-
1. Shut down PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications before daylight saving time begins.
2. Edit the SAPTIMEZONEOFFSET value in the environment parameters file to reflect daylight saving time.
3. After daylight saving time begins, start PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications.
- Switching from daylight saving time to standard time
-
1. Shut down PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications one hour before standard time begins.
2. Edit the SAPTIMEZONEOFFSET value in the environment parameters file to reflect standard time.
3. At least one hour after standard time begins, start PFM - Agent for Enterprise Applications.
