JP1 Version 12 JP1/Performance Management - Agent Option for Enterprise Applications Description, User's Guide and Reference

3.1.6 Notes about installation and setup in Windows

Organization of this subsection

(1) Notes about environment variables

Performance Management uses the JPC_HOSTNAME environment variable. Do not set a user-specific JPC_HOSTNAME environment variable. If such an environment variable is set, Performance Management will not function correctly.

(2) Installing and setting up multiple Performance Management programs on the same host

Performance Management enables you to install PFM - Manager, PFM - Web Console, and PFM - Agent on the same host. This subsection provides notes about such an installation.

Tip

To improve system performance and reliability, we recommend that you run PFM - Manager, PFM - Web Console, and PFM - Agent on separate hosts.

(3) Upgrading

For notes about upgrading the Performance Management programs, see the notes on version upgrades in the chapter on installation and setup in the JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide.

For details about the precautions to be observed when upgrading from an older version of PFM - Agent, see Appendix H. Migration Steps and Notes on Migration. For details about how to upgrade PFM - Agent, see the relevant appendix in the JP1/Performance Management Planning and Configuration Guide.

(4) Notes about an SAP system employing an ASCS instance configuration

To monitor the SAP system, you need to set up an instance environment for each host that contains a central instance with dialog service (primary application server instance) or a dialog instance (additional application server instance).

(5) Notes on using the remote monitoring function

(6) Restrictions on using remote desktop connections for management

When installation or setup operation is performed by using remote desktop connections for management, the following restrictions apply:
