2.5 Starting the command prompt

When OS user account control functionality (UAC) is enabled, the command prompt can run under the following two permissions modes:

If user account control functionality (UAC) is disabled, the administrator console is always started.

Make sure that commands provided by Performance Management are executed in the administrator console.

The following table describes how to start the command prompt for each administrator user.

When the command prompt is started, the administrator console is also started.

When UAC is enabled
  • When the command prompt is started, the standard console is also started.

  • When the administrator console is started, the User Account Control dialog box is displayed. Click the Continue button in this dialog box to start the administrator console. If the Cancel button is clicked, the command prompt does not start.

When UAC is disabled
  • When the command prompt is started, the administrator console is also started.

There are two kinds of administrator console: the one provided by the OS, and the one provided by PFM - Base. The following explains how to start each of them.
